Talk about a send-off.

Greensboro, North Carolina cafeteria worker Dorthy Marsh — set to retire this week from her position at Jackson Middle School — was met with an unexpected pep rally in her honor on her last day of work on Friday, reports Bethany Moore of local news affiliate WXII.

Though 88-year-old Dorothy Marsh had the opportunity to retire years ago, she opted to stay in her role at a local school district out of love for the job.

Moore captured footage of the heartwarming surprise on Friday morning.

According to WXII, Marsh has been with the school district for 50 years. As Moore reports, Marsh first retired from serving at 65, only to return to her position after realizing she missed seeing the school children.
