Loyalty to Netflix can threaten a relationship, but for longtime collaborators Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro, it's the next step in a long, fruitful partnership. Netflix has reportedly acquired streaming rights to The Irishman, Scorsese's next project starring De Niro, according to IndieWire. (A rep for Netflix did not immediately respond to Mashable's request for confirmation.)

The Irishman, based on the 2004 novel I Heard You Paint Houses, will star De Niro as the title character, Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran, a contract killer who murdered Teamster Jimmy Hoffa in the 1970s. According to Variety, the project has been in the works since 2008, and will be the duo's ninth collaboration as actor and director.
