"We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring The Big Bang Theoryto an epic creative close," reads the joint statement released by Warner Bros. TV, CBS, and Chuck Lorre Productions.

The twelfth and final season will premiere Monday, Sep. 24 at 8 p.m. on CBS before settling into its permanent time slot starting Thursday, Sep. 27 at 8 p.m.

The show will wrap up sometime in May 2019, and at that point all of us – fans or not – will have one fewer thing to be sure about in this frightening and confusing world.
