This summer is looking like it's going to be a bit of a bummer for gamers, with tentpole titles like The Last Of Us Part IIgetting delayed (with more delays sure to come) and events like E3 getting canceled.
But don't worry — IGN (which is owned by Mashable’s publisher, Ziff Davis) is working on something big to fill the widening summer games hole.
IGN announced a Summer of Gaming event Tuesday, which will happen at some point in June and include some very E3-esque things like publisher presentations, developer interviews (done remotely, of course), game previews and demos, and other news to hopefully make things feel a little bit "normal" as we head into the sunniest months in the northern hemisphere.
Some of the publishers and developers IGN has teamed up with include 2K, Bandai Namco, Devolver Digital, Google Stadia, SEGA, Square Enix, and THQ Nordic.

The live broadcasts and coverage will be available to view through a litany of IGN accounts on services like Twitch, Twitter, Mixer, Facebook, and elsewhere in 25 different languages around the world.

Hopefully we'll get some new game announcements as well. But don't expect this to fully replace E3 because many game development studios have been heavily impacted by the coronavirus and may be less inclined to share teases of things when timelines are all up in the air.
