4月17日，據足球記者馬德興消息，小组今年亞冠受到疫情等多方麵因素的赛暂赛否影響，將暫時不會再設立視頻助理裁判啟用VAR技術。不启

據悉，淘汰今年西亞大區小組賽已經在沙特、重新阿聯酋以及印度分別展開，激活但受到各種客觀因素的待定影響，包括視頻助理裁判的亚冠用派遣、現場技術設備設置等等，小组亞足聯決定暫時不會啟用VAR技術。赛暂赛否在6月下旬將開戰的不启東亞大區的比賽中，同樣將暫時不會引進VAR技術。淘汰

至於計劃中下半年進行的重新淘汰賽是否會重新啟用VAR技術，亞足聯屆時將根據現實情況再做決定。激活
