Per adorable tradition, French President Emmanuel Macron has adopted a new pup, who will now hold the esteemed title as "First Dog." 。

According to。 BBC。, Nemo is a labrador-griffon mix and almost two-years-old. He comes from the SPA animal refuge in Hermeray and cost the president around $300.。

Nemo is reportedly named after Captain Nemo, the commander of the fictional submarine Nautilus in。 Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, as Macron is a big fan of the book. A fitting name for a dog with such an important position.。

reports that the president and First Lady Brigitte picked Nemo up on Sunday. Nemo was previously abandoned in Tulle, in the southern Corrèze region of France, but now he has a happy home with the president's family.。
