LOS ANGELES -- League of Legendspro player Hankil "Road" Yoon was suspended and fined $2,000 for using racist remarks toward another player during practice -- and it wasn't the team I May player's first time being scolded for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The latest suspension -- announced Saturday, right before I May's group stage match -- was from a Sept. 19 incident in which Yoon used racially insensitive language toward another player on a Korean server. The League of Legendspro has been caught for similar instances before; he was flagged for being verbally abusive towards his own teammate in Ranked play last October.
There were also leaked game chats where Yoon was seen telling Echo Fox's Henrik "Froggen" Hansen to "go die" during a match. Yoon responded via lengthy Facebook post saying that his ability to communicate in English is limited and he didn't actually want Foggen to kill himself, just that he had been dying too much.
Yoon's suspension came right before a crucial weekend match in the League of Legends World Championship between I May and Flash Wolves. But he wasn't missed -- I May was still able to pull out the win over Flash Wolves even down their usual support player.
