北京時間7月9日，去年巴薩主席大選的席候选人最後三名候選人之一的弗萊伊薩在社交媒體上表達了對於梅西續約的看法：

弗萊伊薩表示：“我看到很多的巴薩球迷在為梅西的事情擔心，梅西毫無疑問是梅西曆史最佳，但是最佳已經34歲了，我們的但岁未來在佩德裏，德容，未属法蒂，于年埃裏克這些球員，前主轻人以及未來即將到來的席候选人球員手中。巴薩永遠比任何的梅西球員更加偉大。”
