Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey's Apple TV+ docuseries on mental health now has a title and a premiere date: The Me You Can't See, coming May 21.
The series, which will feature stars including Lady Gaga, Glenn Close, celebrity chef Rashad Armstead, and several prominent athletes, will feature Prince Harry and Oprah facilitating "honest discussions about mental health and emotional well-being while opening up about their mental health journeys and struggles."
News first broke of a mental health docuseries from Oprah and Prince Harry back in 2019 and the then-unnamed show was meant to premiere in 2020. Prince Harry announced his involvement as a co-creator and co-executive producer on his former Duke of Sussex Instagram account, since the announcement came before he and his wife Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020.
Since stepping down and relocating to the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave an explosive televised interview with Oprah that openly discussed Duchess Meghan's mental health and how the royal family failed to protect or offer help to their newest member as she struggled to adjust to the constant, lopsided scrutiny of royal life.
Between The Me You Can't See and their interview, it appears that Oprah and Prince Harry's collaborations are intended to destigmatize and generate a greater understanding for mental health conditions. In a press release announcing the title and premiere date, Prince Harry provided a statement saying, his "hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty." Oprah echoed this sentiment in another statement, where she described the series' goal as one that "aims to spark that global conversation."
The Me You Can't See premieres on Apple TV+ May 21.
