The next version of Apple's desktop operating system, macOS High Sierra, will launch on Sept 25, Apple unveiled on Tuesday.

Originally announced during Apple's WWDC event in June and released as beta later that month, the new OS is more of a refinement than a revolutionary upgrade of Sierra.

Still, High Sierra has a number of important improvements, including an all-new file system, improved graphics and VR support as well as support for the new H.265 video standard.
