The Super NES Classic already has one advantage over last year's NES Classic: longer controller cables.

In a statement, Nintendo of America told us: "The length of the cord on the Super NES Classic controller is approximately five feet long, which is about two feet longer than the cord on the NES Classic Controller."

Controller cable length was a bit of an issue for the NES Classic, which -- at about three feet in length -- didn't span the gaps between many owners' TVs and couches. Five feet is certainly an improvement, but that's still not very long. By comparison, the standard Xbox 360 controller has a nine-foot cable -- pretty generous.

The world was not happy with the NES Classic's controller cable length. Lots of desperate gamers resorted to buying extension cables or custom wireless receivers just so they didn't have to play while sitting on the floor. That the SNES Classic will come with a slightly longer cable is a good sign that Nintendo is listening to at least somefeedback on the NES Classic's shortcomings.

Earlier today, Nintendo said in a statement that it will be producing "significantly more" SNES Classic systems than NES Classic systems, which hopefully will make the SNES Classic easier to obtain than its predecessor.

The SNES Classic is scheduled to release Sept. 29 for $80.
