Coffee lovers and beer snobs no longer have to choose between their two obsessions when visiting Starbucks.
The coffee chain just launched a new coffee-infused beer called the Espresso Cloud IPA as part of its bar-like "Starbucks Evenings" menu, which is available at a limited number of locations across the country.
SEE ALSO:Burger-flavored brew brings some grill-kissed umami to your beerAs a member of Starbucks' research and development team explains in an introductory video, a chilled shot of espresso is dropped into a glass of beer adorned with a coffee froth head. The foam is also laced with hints of orange and vanilla.
While customers have the option of drinking each component separately, the boilermaker-style mash-up comes highly recommended.
"It just blows my mind," the cocktail's inventor, Justin Burns-Beach, says of the combination.
Starbucks also notes that the menu item is the product of a year's worth of research.
The Seattle-based chain first announced its late-day alcohol-and-small plates menu two years ago and has since created some very interesting caffeinated cocktails.
