If you think an adult human being going 31 years without ever tasting the deliciousness of pie sounds too bizarre to be true, you're wrong.

That's why director David Lowery was puzzled when he found out that Rooney Mara never tried pie before filming his movie A Ghost Story.

In the film, Mara's character, M, mourns the loss of her partner, played by Casey Affleck, by eating an entire pie in one sitting.

The scene, which is composed of two long shots, has been praised for being an unconventional way of representing grief.

Now the scene may also be known as the first time Mara, who was 31-years-old at the time, was able to understand the joys of pie.

According to her interview with the Los Angeles Times, Mara has avoided the rich dessert her whole life because she was a really picky child and never had much of a sweet tooth.

“Something about pie always grossed me out and I just never tried it before. And this came along and I tried making them switch it to something else, but David really wanted it to be pie, so we did pie,” the actress said.

Mara's vegan so the chocolate cream pie she ate in the film was specially made for her to be vegan and gluten free.

Congratulations to Mara for conquering her fear; her sweet delectable fear.
